Operations teams that qualify as finalists for the 2023 Seraph Operational Excellence Awards form the backbone of North American automotive manufacturing. These plants run efficient operations, produce quality products, ship on time, and create positive work environment for their team. Each of the eight finalists will receive an on-site evaluation by the expert Seraph operations team to assess, score, and rank our 2023 Seraph Operational Excellence Awards winners.
If you want to win an award, you don’t have to be perfect in every area. The awards are divided into four core categories – logistics, operations, quality, and HR – each of which is evaluated separately. By applying, you automatically become a contender for each category, and all you need is excellence in one area to emerge victorious! But, for the truly well-rounded plants, we created the fifth award, “Overall Best Supplier.” Don’t let a weakness in one area hold you back from applying, because by excelling in just one area, you can win and showcase your team’s amazing work to the world!
Imagine this: your manufacturing facility has been selected as a finalist for the 2023 Seraph Operational Excellence Awards. What’s next?
Members of the Seraph operations team will visit your plant to conduct a Rapid Health Assessment. This is a proven method that focuses on the main areas of plant operation to help leadership understand the health of their business. Every assessment will be conducted by Seraph team members who possess in-depth knowledge of the inner workings of efficient manufacturing plant operations. The assessment will provide a valuable resource that can be used to recognize your team’s achievements and create a roadmap for future improvement.
100 elements of holistic plant success will be examined, and the results of the assessment are summarized into a score across Logistics, Operations, Quality, and Human Resources. This final score will be used by our judges to decide the individual winners of the Awards — and the Overall Best Supplier that excels across each category.
- Logistics — Are all responsible parties aligned to ensure that raw material requirements are met without disruptions?
- Operations — Is the daily operation managed so that tasks are resolved, and customer communication is effective?
- Quality — Is there a quality system established to support long-term production and consistent root cause analysis?
- Human Resources — Does the organization foster a safe, best-in-class work environment that leads to strong recruitment efforts and low employee turnover?
What to Expect
Two hours will be devoted to each of the outlined operations categories, or a total of eight hours over the two-day assessment. For those plants that would prefer having the assessment consolidated into one day, accommodations can be arranged. Our goal at Seraph is to spend enough time to gain a detailed understanding of the operation without distracting your team. Overall, the assessment is a tool for improvement and recognition that will benefit your leadership team and recognize the accomplishments of the whole organization.
